Camera Movements

Camera Movements

Camera movements allow the audience to follow the artist. In music videos camera movement provide vital shots to keep the audience interested.


Panning 
Panning is used to follow an object/subject whilst they are moving in the frame. This is done by putting a camera on a tripod and turning it within its axis.

Tracking 
Tracking is a vital tool when following a moving subject/object from one point to the next. It allows a smooth movement and can also be used to explore around the subject/object.

handheld shots 
handheld shots provide a more interactive way for the audience. It makes them feel as if they are in the scene. This is because of the shaking, which connotes reality.

Crane shots 
Crane shots are similar to tracking shots, however they can go left, right, centre, up and down. This is because they are in the air and so can be used over a large spaces.

Ariel shots 
Ariel shots are similar to crane shots, however they are used in helicopters and are useful for establishing a setting as it can see long distances.
